This March, we have already seen three recalls occur from well known pet food brands. Even though we do not carry any of these brands, we want to keep pet owners well informed about what they are feeding their pets.We'll keep this page updated as more information is released, as well as update it if there are any more recalls throughout the month.
Salmonella and E. coli Found in Darwin's Dog Food
On March 26, 2018, Darwin's Dog Food recalled four lots of their food after several products testing positive for Salmonella and E. coli 0128. No illnesses have been reported as of yet to the company.
Darwin's Dog Food recalled their Natural Selections with Organic Vegetables Meals, Natural Selections Duck with Organic Vegetables Meals, ZooLogics Chicken Meals with Organic Vegetables, and ZooLogics Turkey with Organic Vegetables Meals. Blue Ridge Beef Dog Food Affected by Salmonella and Listeria Monocytogenes
On March 26, 2018, Blue Ridge Beef recalled one lot of its BRD Complete raw recipe due to possible contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The lot that has been recalled will affect Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. If you live in this area and have recently purchased BRD Complete raw for your dog, the company advises you to stop feeding it and throw it away, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Thyroid Hormone Found in Milo's Kitchen Dog Treats
On March 22, 2018, J.M. Smucker Company recalled two dog treat recipes from their Milo's Kitchen brand due to possible contamination of thyroid hormone. Three illness reports have been reported up to date.
Affected products include Milo's Kitchen Steak Grillers, Steak Grillers with Angus Steak, and Grillers Burger Bites with Sweet Potato and Bacon. Thyroid hormone in dogs can cause symptoms such as increased thirst, urination, weight loss, increased heart rate, and restlessness.

Salmonella Bacteria Detected in Redbarn Pet Products
On March 7, 2018, Redbarn Pet Products expanded their recall to all their raw foods due to possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria. Fortunately, no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.
Redbarn Pet Products' raw food supplier was used to produce products from Redbarn, Chewy Louie, Dentley’s, and Good Lovin’ brand. This recall is focusing on specific lots from these brands that were distributed from March 2017 through February 2018.
This recall was initiated early February on a single lot of of Redbarn Pet Products when the Colorado Department of Agriculture sampled a test and received positive results of Salmonella bacteria. The FDA then tested a completely different lot of raw food from Redbarn's raw supplier that tested positive for Salmonella as well.
Did you recently buy from Redbarn Pet Products or the brands mentioned above? It's suggested to check the product's 'best by' code and return it for a full refund if it contains the letters 'BC' at the end of the numbered code. For complete details, click here.
Salmonella Bacteria Found in Tucker’s Raw Frozen Dog Food
On March 6, 2018, Raw Basic LLC. recalled its Tucker’s Raw Frozen Pork-Bison Dog Food due to possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Tucker's recall was initiated when Nebraska Department of Agriculture tested samples and received one that tested positive for Salmonella bacteria. Product affected was isolated to 1 lot of 108 boxes that was sent to distributors in Minnesota, Georgia, Kansas, and Pennsylvania.

Salmonella Bacteria Found in Steve's Real Food
On March 2, 2018, Steve’s Real Food recalled one lot of its Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe due to possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria. Fortunately, no pet or human illnesses have been reported to date.
This recipe recall occurred after retail testing by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture collected and received a positive sample of Salmonella. For safety precautions, Steve’s Real Food decided to recall an entire lot of their Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe that was distributed between 6/27/17 and 7/15/17.
If you have recently bought this food, we advise you to take it to the location you’ve purchased it and have them check if you have a package from the affected lot. If so, your product can be returned for a full refund. For more details, please click here.
